    Births by Maternal Socioeconomic Characteristics - 3-Year Aggregations reports the number and percentage of births in certain categories (ie Low Birth Weight) by maternal background characteristics.

    This dataset provides birth data along with the maternal background information regarding years of education and marital status. Low birth weight is under 2500 grams, or about 5.5 pounds. Very low birth weight is under 1500 grams, or about 3.3 pounds. A birth is premature if it occurs before the gestational age of 37 weeks. Connecticut Department of Public Health collects and CTdata.org carries annual data, 3-year and 5-year averages. More dimensions can be found in the raw data such as initiation of prenatal care and birth pluralities.
