About this dataset
Children by Family Type reports the number and percent of children living in families by child age and by family type.
Children are any never-married person under 18 years who is a son or daughter by birth, a stepchild, or an adopted child of the householder. In this dataset, own children are further classified as living with two parents or with one parent only, and own children living with one parent only are further classified by the gender of the parent. This data originates from the American Community Survey 5-Year estimates, table B09002.
