About this dataset
Municipal Debt reports several indicators of Municipal Debt.
Presented in this dataset are several indicators related to the Indebtedness of a given municipality for a given year. Total Indebtedness is the sum of any long-term bonded debt obligations for that municipality and any obligations the municipality owes for the bonded debt of one or more related Regional School Districts. Debt Service refers to the total sum of capital required to pay any principal and interest for a given timespan - in this case the given State Fiscal Year. State Fiscal Years run from July 1 through the following June 30. Population estimates used to calculate Per Capita measures were derived using the Connecticut Department of Public Health estimates as of July 1 of the year ending the State Fiscal Year - ie. SFY 2012-2013 uses the population estimate for July 1, 2013. Grand List values used to derive related indicators are from October of the year preceding the State Fiscal Year - ie SFY 2012-2013 uses Grand List data from October 2011. Town's without data for the Bonded Regional School District Debt indicator do not have a connection with a Regional School District, and therefore no related debt obligations. For SFY 2014-2015, the town of Plymouth did not report to the OPM, therefore all values for that town and year are suppressed and calculations for percent of state averages account for the removal of the population of Plymouth.
