  • Description
Suspension Rate reports the percentage of students who have received at least one sanction (ISS, OSS, EXP) during a school year, per grade.
  • Full Description
This dataset reports the percentage of unique, unduplicated students in a given grade that have received at least one In-school Suspension (ISS), Out-of-school Suspension (OSS), or Expulsion (EXP) out of the total number of students enrolled in the Public School Information System (PSIS) as of October of the given year. This dataset is based on School Years. Suspension Rate by Grade Range has been archived. For grade range reference, Elementary includes Kindergarten through Grade 5, Middle School includes Grade 6 through Grade 8, and High School includes Grade 9 through Grade 12. Not all districts can be defined by the standard grade ranges, therefore some grades will show a 0, indicating that grade is not applicable for that district. A value of -6666 indicates a missing value, a value of -9999 indicates a suppressed value. Charter Districts have been entered as individual districts. Note: In the 2019-20 school year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person classes were cancelled in mid-March; all districts switched to fully remote instruction for the remainder of the school year.
