Population by Race by Town

Additional Info

Total population for that Town, Year

Population by Race by Town reports the number and percentage of people living in an area per Race/Ethnicity.

Population by Race/Ethnicity data is extracted from table DP05 of The American Community Survey (ACS). We also calculated the number and percent of non-Hispanic residents for all years and geographies. Beginning in 2000, questions about race were reformatted to allow surveyed individuals to select one or more races. The Census also asked individuals to identify Hispanic origin separate from race. While the race and ethnicity subtables options include combinations of two or more specific race designation (e.g White and Asian or Asian and Alaska Native), we have chosen not to include those subsets of the data. The counts we display by race are for non-Hispanics and Hispanics includes all races that identify as Hispanic. Percentages for each disaggregation were also calculated along with corresponding margins of error. The denominator for any given percentage calculation was the total population for given geography in the given year.
