Housing

Annual

This dataset provides the estimate of the population over 1 year of age whose place of residence changed within 12 months prior to the survey, disaggregated by poverty status. Poverty status is determined by the US Census using their annual Poverty Threshold calculations. Poverty Thresholds are defined and published on an annual basis by the US Census Bureau. Thresholds are adjusted annually using the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Price Index for Urban Consumers (CPI-U). Thresholds vary by family size, number of children, household size and elderly status. Thresholds do not vary geographically. The US Census-produced Poverty Thresholds are used for statistical purposes to calculate the number of people in poverty. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services uses the threshold published by the US Census to issue official Poverty Guidelines, which are used administratively to determine financial eligibility for certain programs. This data originates from the American Community Survey 5-Year estimates, summary table S0701.

Poverty status determined is the denominator for the poverty rate. It is the population for which poverty status was determined so when poverty is calculated they exclude institutionalized people, people in military group quarters, people in college dormitories, and unrelated individuals under 15 years of age.
